EHRCEPA is established to achieve the following objectives:
- EHRCEPA works primarily to make a difference in people's awareness, concern and exercise of their basic human and democratic rights in the country. It also works relentlessly to the promotion and realization of gender equality, the rule of law, good governance, peace and stability with the active participation of beneficiaries, stakeholders and the communities or the public at large.
- In order that the rights of children and women may be respected, it will work to inform them about the laws of Ethiopia, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the Convention on Child rights.
- To strive for the development of democratic culture and behavior among our society by giving civic education.
- To help national (Federal) and regional governments for the development of good governance.
- To teach society about the environment to enhance its concern about the protection of the environment.
- To brief society about health and nutritional matters so that it takes care of itself from diseases.
- In order to alleviate poverty and unemployment, it teaches society about the ways of creating job opportunities.
- It works for development, charity and peace activities.
- To give voter education to society in order to help it to make fair and free election possible.
- It gives door-to-door civic education, organizes seminars, dramas, workshops, panel discussions, and conducts competitions where awards will be given to winners.
- Helps to organize democratic institutions and gives support to those that have already been organized.
- Creates ways of forming and supporting charities and development projects whose purposes are to help women, the elderly, children and the needy.
